ISKAST 2024 | The 7th International Biennial Congress of the Iranian Society of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy, and Sports Traumatology

ISKAST 2024 | The 7th International Biennial Congress of the Iranian Society of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology took place on Kish Island from January 23 to 26, with Dr. Mohammad Hosein Ebrahimzadeh serving as the chair of the congress.

The ORC team played an active role in organizing the congress and shared their latest research findings. 

Orthopedic professors and researchers delivered a variety of presentations at the Congress, summarized as follows: 

Oral Presentations: 

• Dr. Mohammad Hosein Ebrahimzadeh presented on Revision ACL Skipping Previous Tunnels. 
• Dr. Mohammad Hosein Ebrahimzadeh and Dr. Mahla Daliri discussed the cutting-edge areas of research in orthopedic knee surgery. 
• Dr. Nafiseh Jirofti presented a comprehensive characterization of Sol–Gel Silver-Fluoride Hydroxyapatite Coatings on External Fixators for Orthopedic Surgery Applications, covering structural, biological, and in vitro evaluations. 
• Dr. Alireza Mousavian covered topics such as Anatomy and Biomechanics, Lisfranc in athletes, fixation or fusion, and surgical planning in Drop-Flail Foot with a focus on patient needs, including sport activities. 
• Dr. Seyed Hadi Seyed Hoseinian shared insights on case presentation and Haglund’s deformity management. 

Poster Presentation: 

• Dr. Afsaneh Jahani presented on 3D Printing Polycaprolactone Based Scaffolds for Meniscus Tissue Engineering Applications. 
• Naeemeh Kalali presented on the Current Paradox Regarding Prosthetic Joint Infection Occurrence Due to Dysbiosis of Gut Microbiome. 

Furthermore, Dr. Nafiseh Jirofti's article was recognized as the top article in the ISKAST Congress, highlighting the excellence of the orthopedic research center's team.

On October 2, 2024, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMs) hosted the inaugural geriatric conference dedicated to welfare, vitality, and health, collaborating with the Orthopedic Research Center (ORC) and the Physiotherapy Department.

The event featured 17 expert lectures covering various aspects of robotic technology, orthopedics, and physiotherapy, focusing on common orthopedic issues in the elderly, their rehabilitation, and robotic-assisted recovery. Notable attendees included:

 Dr. Mohammad H. Ebrahimzadeh, Director of the ORC;

Dr. Mahmoud Shabestari, President of MUMs;

Dr. Alireza Akbarzadeh, Director of the Robotics Research Center (FUM-Care).

 A highlight of the conference was the unveiling the "Hexa," the first Iranian robotic hip exoskeleton developed by EuWalk Company. This innovative device, created through collaborative efforts between researchers at FUM-Care and ORC, marks a significant milestone in rehabilitating and empowering elderly and disabled individuals.

This achievement showcases the scientific and technical prowess of Iranian researchers and lays the groundwork for the advancement of homegrown technologies in health and rehabilitation.

This recognition underscores our excellence in the field of bone tissue engineering. Dr. Ali Moradi's Award-Winning Presentation: Dr. Ali Moradi was recognized as the Best Presenter for his outstanding presentation titled 'Integrated Bionic Hand Design.' This award highlights the exceptional quality of his presentation and his contributions to the field. Outstanding Article Ratings: Our research team achieved notable success in article ratings. Dr. Ehsan Vahedi's research, titled 'Evaluation of Tendon Adhesion after Amniotic Membrane Wrapping around Flexor Tendon Repair Site within Pulley Area Injuries,' secured the third place. Mr. Parsa Salehi's work, 'Predicting Hand Grip Strength Using Hand Anthropometric Features,' earned the fourth position. These accomplishments demonstrate the dedication and excellence of our team in advancing research in these fields.
